History

Belhelvie is a small village situated 7 miles north of Aberdeen. The site of the bowling green is on ground gifted by a local land owner to ex-servicemen returning from the 1914-18 war.
Between the years of 1918 and 1924 the area was used for the game of quoits. Eventually bowls took over and in 1924 the Belhelvie Bowling Club was formed. The original green was not of regulation size and was replaced by the existing one in 1992.

The club joined the Benachie Bowling Association in 1962, Scottish Bowling Association in 1974 and the Counties of Aberdeen and Kincardine Bowling Association in 1978.
Belhelvie has been represented at the S.B.A. finals on several different occasions and has regularly supplied players for the county team.

Other notable achievements are A&K league winners 1999 & 2000, A&K top ten winners 1994, Benachie league winners 1981, 1989, 1991 and 1993.

Like many small country clubs Belhelvie Bowling Club relies on attracting and retaining new members to secure a vibrant future. There are currently >30 active male and female members.
