Our first competition of the year, the 2-4-2 pairs was played on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th April. The good weather held throughout, with section winners Marion Donald and Ian Forman, Allan McBain and Myra Sutherland, and Phil Moir and John McGregor joined by best runners-up Sheena McBain and Phil Ward in Friday’s semi-finals. Allan and Myra managed to get the better of Phil M and John to meet up with Phil W. and Sheena in the final.
The final was very close, with the teams tied going into the final end. Sheena managed to draw a close shot early on, which was never beaten, and hence Phil W. and Sheena bagged the first of 2018’s silverware.
We were blessed with great weather for our opening of the green on 15th April. We were able to play 4 pairs and one triple, over 12 ends. On the day, the President’s team came out on top, beating the Vice President’s team by 67 shots to 42. Thanks to everyone that came along.
Thank you to everyone that voted for us. We have been awarded £1000 from the Bags of Help scheme and our new mower is now in use!
Belhelvie Bowling Club are in need of a new mower for our green! These are very costly pieces of kit. We have been lucky enough to be selected for the Tesco “Bags of Help” scheme to aid us in purchasing a new mower. As of the 2nd January, Belhelvie Bowling Club has been allocated a token tub at each of the following stores:
Danestone
Aberdeen South (Altens)
Great Western Road
Great Northern Road
Holburn Street
North Deeside
Union Street
Westhill
Woodend
Dyce
Pittodrie
This is very exciting and we’d encourage you to spread the word to all your friends, family and neighbours and ask them to support our club when they’re out doing their shopping by voting for Belhelvie Bowling Club using their tokens!
We’d encourage everyone to spread the word and to promote the club during this period however there are a few rules set out by Tesco to prevent harassment of Tesco customers – see below:
Don’t:
– Tamper with the voting unit otherwise your project may be void from the vote
– Influence customers casting their vote at the voting unit.
– Encourage supporters to submit multiple tokens in the voting unit
– Promote your project in store without permission from the Store Manager
– Collect Bags of Help tokens from stores that are not within your region to vote for your project
Do:
– Cast your vote as soon as you receive your token for a project in the current voting round
– Only submit Tesco Bags of Help token to cast your vote
– Maximise promotion of your project during the voting period
– Encourage the local community and your supporters to get involved with Bags of Help voting
Please note that the closing of the green will now be held on Sunday 17th September instead of Saturday 16th. We will be holding our 2-bowl pairs competition on the day so please join us if you can.
Congratulations to our new gents and ladies club champions, Phil Lawson and Helen Finnie, who triumphed in last night’s finals. Both games were very close and provided great entertainment. Commiserations to Brian Thomson and Elaine Anderson who were both just pipped to the prize.
