Both the Benachie and A&K Fours leagues ended this week. On Wednesday 14th we picked up our third win of the year, with a comfortable 16 shot victory way at Oldmeldrum. This saw us achieve a final position of fourth in the table with 6 points. Section winners Pitmedden are the first recipients of the new Section B trophy whilst Harlaw were victorious in Section A. Joining Pitmedden in Section A next year will be Kemnay (5 wins and 10 points) who finished in second place. Coming down to play against us in Section B next year will be Newhills and Rothienorman who played their final game against each other this week. Final tables can be found here.

On Friday, the A&K Fours league ended with a 5-0 defeat to Stonehaven. This put Stonehaven on equal points with Laurencekirk at the top of the league but with a better shout difference. Stonehaven with play against Inverurie for the overall winner title whilst Laurencekirk and Tarves will contest the third-fourth play-off. Final tables can be found here.

Sadly our ladies struggled against Ellon in their rearranged Craigie Ladies league tie on Thursday with all three rinks being beaten. They didn’t escape the rain either!

The weather played its part last week as the ladies’ Tuesday night fixture against Ellon in the Craigie Ladies had to be postponed due to the deluge that day. It has been re-arranged for this coming Thursday, 15th June.

On Wednesday our gents managed to pick up their second win of the season in the Benachie League, running out 70-54 winners against Dyce at home. There is only one game left, away against Oldmeldrum, so hopefully we can finish on a high! The league table is here.

Unfortunately, our last representatives in the Scottish were knocked out as our triples were beaten by Rothienorman in their quarter final.

Finally, a mixed bag of results finished off the week on Friday as we picked up two points for a 16-14 win away at Harlaw in the A&K fours. The result wasn’t as favourable at home as we suffered a 8-16 defeat. There is only one match left, this coming Friday against Stonehaven. Current standings can be found here.

Last week was a very busy one with ties played in the Scottish, Craigie Ladies, Benachie League, A&K Fours and the Top Ten.

Unfortunately it was not a happy week in terms of the scores, with victories only in the Craigie Ladies at home to Newmachar on Tuesday evening and our gents triples in the Scottish on Thursday to record. Well done to all the teams involved, including some new faces in the Craigie Ladies line-up.

With fixtures Tuesday through Friday, hopefully there’ll be better news to write-up next week!
