Teams have been selected for the first round of the Top Ten competition on Tuesday 30th May at Pitmedden. Good luck everyone.

A busy week last week, as the Scottish games got going. Unfortunately, it was a week of mixed results for Belhelvie, starting with a loss to Westhill in the Craigie Ladies league. This was their first fixture of the year and, although a close game, the final score was 46-38 to Westhill.

Next came Methlick at home in the Benachie league on Wednesday. At half way, things were looking rather grim with a 20+ shot deficit to make up. A valiant fight back by our gents over the rest of the game brought us to within 4 shots with two ends to play. Unfortunately, we couldn’t quite overhaul the gap, going down by 7 shots in the end.

On Thursday, Ian Forman did very well to progress in the senior singles, with a 21-7 victory over Ian Beattie from Rothienorman. Unfortunately, Ian came off second best that evening in the main draw, against Andy Thomson from Westhill. Our ladies senior fours went down very narrowly 15-13 to Inverurie.

Some good news came on Friday: our gents picked up their first 5 points of the season in the A&K fours, beating Banchory 17-12 at home and 14-11 away. The league table is very tight!

Finally, two more ladies Scottish fixtures came and went on Saturday, our pair (Christine and Helen) narrowly missing out 22-17 to Harlaw and our fours having a similar result, 20-11 runners-up to Newhills.

Teams have been selected for the Benachie League fixture on the 24th May 2017 at Belhelvie against Methlick. Good luck everyone.

Week 3 of the Benachie League saw Belhelvie go down to their second league defeat with a final score of 55-41 away to Pitmedden. The tie was played in a good spirit but Pitmedden had the edge throughout with all but one rink beaten. Hopefully we can get back on track at home against Methlick on Wednesday 24th. Kemnay and Pitmedden continue to lead the pack with three wins out of three. For full Benachie league placings, see here.

Our ladies suffered a first round defeat against Huntly in the Forbes Hendry. A well earned win by 10 shots away in Huntly  was reversed by a significant deficit at home. It was just one of those nights! Good luck to Huntly in the next round.

On Friday, our gents took on Rothienorman in the A&K Fours. Unfortunately our home team struggled to a 17-9 defeat but a narrow victory was achieved at Rothie as a single shot on the last end put Belhelvie in the lead at just the right time to win 12-11. This puts us in 5th place, on 4 points, but with a game in hand on most of the other teams. The current A&K league tables can be found here.

The final team selection made this week was for the ladies Forbes Hendry tie against Huntly, to be played on Thursday 18th May.
