Result: Ladies Forbes Hendry

Our ladies braved tonight’s wet and cold weather to play Newmachar in the first round of the Forbes Hendry competition.

At home, Myra, Margaret and Marion kept it very tight over the opening ends and started to pull away in the second half, eventually coming out on top by 13 shots to 7. In Newmachar, Christine, Helen and Eileen M. managed to restrict the opposition to a narrow 2 shot margin with a 15-17 final score. Winning the tie by 4 shots overall Belhelvie go through to play either Torphins or Ellon in the quarter final. Well done ladies!

Results: Gents Forbes Hendry 1st Round and A&K 13th May

Two gents fours teams were in action both Thursday and Friday evenings this week, playing the 1st round of the Forbes Hendry and the second A&K league fixture respectively.

On Thursday, our away team in Alford went down 16-10 to the home side but back at Belhelvie a 21-15 win meant the tie was all-square after the 17 ends. This meant the score at the end of the 16th end would decide the winner. Belhelvie were 27-31 behind at this stage and hence Alford go through to meet either Balgownie or Oldmeldrum in the 2nd round.

Unfortunately, Friday night’s A&K tie against Tarves was a struggle for Belhelvie, with both home and away teams suffering one-sided defeats.

Final Score 49-55

Belhelvie got off to a good start in tonight’s Benachie league match at Dyce and opened up a 13 shot lead across the board in the first two ends. The Dyce teams fought their way back, however, whittling the lead down to just a handful of shots by the mid-way point. The second half was very tightly contested. Phil Lawson’s rink and Alan McBain’s rink were narrowly beaten by 5 shots apiece, but a 3 shot victory for Phil Moir and a 21-8 final score on Derek Watson’s rink were sufficient to win the tie for Belhelvie.

Craigie Ladies vs Balgownie

On another sunny and warm evening tonight, our ladies contested the first Craigie Ladies league fixture of 2016, against Balgownie.

The tie started off as a tightly fought affair, with only a few shots between the teams for the first half of each game. Unfortunately, Balgownie managed to pull away and a strong finish saw them take the tie by 52 shots to 24.
