Results: Benachie KOs

Our gents pairs and fours both played their Benachie KO quarter-finals last Thursday, against Newmachar and Tarves respectively.  Unfortunately, John N and Ian F couldn’t quite get the better of Newmachar, going down 23-10. It was a more successful night for Allan’s fours though, with a last end 2 with the jack in the ditch helping them triumph  19-18 against a very strong Tarves team. They progress to meet Harlaw in the semi-finals, on 11th August.

Reminder: Try Bowls!

A quick reminder that this Friday is our Try Bowls! event. Everything is ready to go, so all we need now is a good turnout. Tell your family and friends and please come along to help if you can. The evening will start at 6pm with the quiz planned for around 8.30pm. See you there!

Results: Craigie Ladies, Crowmallie Cup and Benachie KOs

There are a few results to update you on from the past couple of weeks. On the 7th July our pairs and fours made it through their first round ties in the Benachie KOs, against Pitmedden and Balgownie respectively. Unfortunately our other representatives weren’t as lucky.

Last night, our gents also won through to the quarter final of the Crowmallie Cup, beating Ellon 40-30 on aggregate. A 23-12 victory for our away team was helped by picking up an 8 along the way!

Also on Tuesday our ladies played their final league game of the Craigie Ladies season, against Ellon. Belhelvie got off to a slow start but fought back well to record narrow victories on two of the three rinks. Unfortunately this wasn’t enough to win the tie overall with a final score of 37-45 to Ellon.

Tonight it was our ladies turn to do battle in the Crowmallie Cup, as they played their first round tie against Newmachar. At home, Marion skipped the team to a very close 3 shot defeat (teams were tied with one end to go!) whilst away at Newmachar, Eileen H, Helen and Christine managed a 6 shot victory to secure the tie for Belhelvie.

Result: Top Ten

Belhelvie were drawn away at Bervie in the A&K Top Ten competition last night. Having benefited from a bye in the first round, this quarter final tie was Belhelvie’s first in the competition. Bervie had previously knocked out the 2015 champions Inverurie 8-0.

Bervie got off to a strong start, taking an early lead in both the pairs and triples matches. Belhelvie meanwhile opened up a gap of a few shots in the fours. Phil Lawson couldn’t quite keep David Keith in check in the singles and they were first to finish with the score 21-9 to Bervie.

With the fours maintaining their lead and the pairs battling to close the gap, the tie remained in the balance for a while. However, despite a 14-10 victory for Alan and a 11-11 draw for Derek and Ian, defeat for our triples meant Bervie came out victorious by 5 points to 3.

Result: Benachie League

Our gents finished off the Benachie league fixtures for 2016 in style on Wednesday night, with all rinks unbeaten and a final score of 65-45 in Belhelvie’s favour. Only a last bowl act of charity from Alan prevented a clean sweep of all four rinks.

Belhelvie finish in fifth place with 8 points from the campaign, two victories behind section winners Newhills. Click here for all of the scores from both sections and the final tables.

Elsewhere, the District 3 Scottish gents and mixed pairs competitions concluded on Thursday night. Videos to come shortly, but in the meantime you can find the winning clubs here.

Result: Craigie Ladies

Very well done to our ladies who beat Kemnay in the Craigie Ladies league fixture last night. A final score of 51-27 in Belhelvie’s favour was helped by a +20 shot victory (including picking up a 6 and a 4 in the last two ends) by Sheena and Eileen H on rink 2. The next and final game is against Ellon, at home, on 12th July.
